The ASCE Student Chapter of Younus College of Engineering and Technology, in association with the NSS Unit of YCET and ASCE-ISSR, organized an awareness program on "Beat Plastic Pollution" followed by a sapling plantation drive at GVHSS (Girls) Valathungal as part of World Environment Day 2025 celebrations. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Kishore P., President, ASCE - India Section - Southern Region, who emphasized the urgent need to reduce plastic waste and adopt eco-friendly alternatives. The interactive awareness session by Prof. Niranjini Shibu educated students on the harmful effects of plastic pollution, highlighting sustainable practices. A Sustainability Pledge was taken by all participants, reinforcing their commitment to eco-friendly practices. A sapling plantation initiative was carried out, with participants planting native tree species to promote biodiversity and a greener campus. The event successfully aligned with this year’s World Environment Day theme, "Beat Plastic Pollution," by combining awareness, action, and afforestation. Such initiatives play a crucial role in building a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.
